JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE:               Head of Marine Training Department

LOCATION:               UK

LINE MANAGER:      Training and Health & Safety Manager

APPRAISER:             Training and Health & Safety Manager
                       

Key Objectives


To develop, deliver and co-ordinate theory and practical classes to students in Marine and Offshore subject areas, ensuring that all the associated functions of preparation, assessment, verification and course development are undertaken.

Main tasks

a)  Management and co-ordination of Marine courses.

b)  Delivery of all Dynamic Positioning courses.

c)  Managing course programme delivery including review and updating of course training and educational materials.

d)  Responsibility for ensuring ASET & Aberdeen College policies and procedures are maintained and followed.

e)  Act as the main focal point between ASET and the various awarding bodies        for Marine courses.

f)   Monitoring and evaluating course delivery and client feedback.

g)  Maintaining accurate records and producing all necessary reports.

h)  Promoting new contacts with potential customers.

i)    Managing Marine team meetings and briefing sessions.

j)    Continuing professional self development to ensure knowledge is up to date.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

JOB TITLE:   Head of Marine Department


 KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

1.  Experience of marine operations in widest sense possible
2. Experience of offshore operations in widest sense possible
3. Project Management Skills
4.  Problem solving skills

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   *Class 1 Master Mariner
2.   Class 2 (where a class 1 is not held)
3.   Command Experience
4.   Experience in the offshore environment
5.   *Experience in education
6.   *ECDL
