Lead Database Developer/IT Manager
Company is a start-up innovative fundamentals based natural gas
energy derivatives hedge fund. Tremendous opportunity for growth.
The position will report to the CEO and will have expertise in
database management, mining programming skills and develop and support
reporting and data collection processes.
Additionally, the position will provide general IT support of the
current systems with abilities to quickly troubleshoot issues and either repair
or procure assistance to repair the problem.
Responsibilities
Primary:
·
Effectively participate with the CEO and Portfolio
manager in the design & development of new, and improvement of existing,
natural gas market models/frameworks that automatically retrieve, organize, store,
analyze and present fundamentals data impacting natural gas prices, with
emphasis on improving presentation and delivery.

Program & Manage Databases: demonstrable expertise in database
management, including programming skills with Python and SQL
·
Construct New or Improve Existing Models: experience developing models to assess North
American natural gas production, imports, exports, demand and regional pricing
·
Accountability for maintaining the CEO’s model
of assimilating voluminous data into consistently accurate price directional,
trade actionable information and commercial recommendations thru effective
written, verbal and graphic communications on a real-time intraday, as well as
up to date daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual basis depending on the
frequency of the data.

Design, analyze code, optimize and maintain
all databases, tables, stored procedures, indexes, triggers, data extraction,
transformation, and validation as well as other processes as required.

Provide advice and guidance on database good
practices.
·
Provide input on systems architecture as
required.
·
Follow all security practices and identify
areas and processes where performance and security can be improved.
·
Make and justify recommendations for
improvement.
·
Continuously tune and optimize SQL Server
databases. Ensure that code and other deliverables adhere to company standards.
Secondary IT support function:
·
Communicate with service providers and help desk
support for:
o
Internet outages
o
Email support
o
Hardware issues
o
Data support
·
Check daily database tasks and processes
·
Check daily custom processes and
downloads. Fix any missed or broken
loads.
·

Skills
- 2 years experience with excellent references
- SQL Server Database Administration
·
Windows Server Administration
·
T-SQL Programming
·
.Net Programming
·
Python
·
Microsoft Office Tools
·
Office 365 Administration
·
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional skill sets a plus:
·
Masters
degree in computer science economics, engineering, mathematics or other
quantitative field.
·
Experience in the energy or financial industry
in a role directly supporting energy traders’ formulation of price directional
trade tactics
